Our Margin Lending Course has been developed to meet the Tier 1 RG 146 training requirements in relation to margin lending and geared investments outlined in ASIC Consultation Paper 108- “Margin lending: Training of financial advisers (July 2009)”

Our course is also suitable for participants wanting to build knowledge in this key area of advice.

Course Overview

Structure	The program is comprised of four modules: What is Gearing Margin Lending Fundamentals Alternative Strategies Taxation and Compliance
Learning outcome	Understanding the fundamentals of margin lending, including the concept of leverage, loan to value ratios (LVRs), margin calls and gearing. Recognising potential investors who can benefit from gearing using margin lending as a strategy Knowing and managing the risks associated with gearing and margin lending
What will be received upon completion?	A Certificate of Completion will be issued upon completion. Units of competence will be awarded after the release of the revised RG 146. Students with compliance in another RG 146 financial product area will be issued with a Statement of Attainment after this time.
Delivery	Self-study: 15–20 hours Workshop (optional): full day, in addition to self-study
Assessment	Multiple choice questions (open book) and a Role Play
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)	There is currently no RPL available into this program. RPL will be available after ASIC has issued units of competence.
Timeframes for completion	Within 12 months of enrolment

All IBI Students are regarded as undertaking their Course by Distance. However, Students may have the option of attending our Classroom Workshops. Workshops are moderated by IBI Training Consultants responsible for delivering and assessing skills and knowledge outcomes. Learning outcomes in a group classroom environment are potentially accelerated. IBI operates day and evening classes or accelerated learning camps run over the week-end.
